Long time!

Hello,

It's been such a long time since I updated this blog! University has really taken up all of my time this year. I'm back for summer now and with nothing to do until I move to New York in December, I'm sure I'll be able to keep this up better.

I've felt a little uninspired by clothes recently, I think that's mainly because all of my energy has been going into my uni work and focusing on my portfolio to get placements. I can't afford to buy magazines and with no time to check out fashion blogs I feel like I've really lost touch with things. But I'm going to get back into it! I've had my tumblr page running again for the last few weeks and just scrolling through my dash has inspired me so much. I also have a new Instagram and not many followers, so please check that out!

This year at uni has been hectic, I've done five separate projects, had work shown at the trade show SpinExpo in Shanghai, won a knitted interiors competition with Rowan Wool, knitted three garments and numerous half garments, and put together another.

This is my final garment for an eco project. We didn't have to knit for this as it was more about the fashion and drape aspect. It's made from a tea dyed jersey, recycled fabric, and the pattern cutting technique called subtractional pattern cutting (from Julian Roberts).

I'm going to get back to outfit posts soon, I need to get some fabric to make a home studio as I can't be bothered to do location shoots all the time. My remote shutter for my camera has broken too so I need to get another one before I can do outside shoots. 

Anyway, sorry for the long post. Keep posted for outfit posts and more of my work!

Cashmere

I found an old cashmere jumper at the bottom of my wardrobe. I forgot how comfortable and wonderful it is. I got it years ago in a vintage shop for £2.50 and it really has served me well.

 

I'm wearing it with a charity shop shirt, Topshop jeans and Underground creepers.

I just bought myself a new remote shutter for my camera. I haven't figured out how to hide it effectively in photos yet (see last picture) but it sure does make taking outfit photos a hell of a lot easier! I still don't own a tripod, I'll probably need to invest in one soon. Balancing my heavy camera on the top of a wall isn't really an ideal situation.

Over there

I've been knitting furiously for the past month, and it was all for last week's college fashion show. Stupidly, I decided to make five garments. This meant very little sleep and bleeding friction burns on my fingers.

Having taken three weeks off at the beginning of make time due to my operation, I genuinely thought I'd get three, maybe four, outfits ready for the show. But I worked my big butt off and managed five! (In this photo I'm wearing my sleeve the wrong way round. oops.) I was surprised to win best collection at the prize giving afterwards and super happy with the Topshop voucher I got!

On a slightly different topic, this evening I dyed my hair pink yeyyyy. It's gone very pink on the ends and kind of peachy colour in the middle. Obviously my roots are still black like ALWAYS. I've been knitting so much recently I fear my arms will fall off. Knitting machines are so tiring and right now I just need to sleep. Perhaps one day I will post pictures of my knitted creations, but right now I'm not massively proud of anything I've done and don't want to share it with the Internet just yet. I might one day knit the most beautiful outfit that will bring me fame and fortune and I will not wait to show everyone my work.
